That fungus surely did kill it dead; but there's a new plant in its place:
And one more little herb patch...
And now the weather forecast is predicting thunderstorms all over again-- just when I thought we were in the clear with beautiful weather...

I love that song. Saw them live a million years ago.
The fungals will most likely kill your other plants since the fungals is in the soil now. You should do a three year rotation all plants in the same family (tomatoes, green pepper, eggplant ect.). This help keep the fungal and viruses from destoring your garden.
Yeah-- that song came up on the iPod on my drive home and it just seemed appropriate.
Anon- I'm basically just assuming that the fungus remains; however, for this year, since we already had things planted and they are starting to bloom, I'll be using a fungicide to keep it under control. In the fall, all that container dirt goes away, and the inside of the container can be disinfected. I'm also planting two more tomatoes and eggplants in a totally new container with untainted soil. We'll see how it does!
Good luck! Fresh tomatoes are awesome.
