Sigh. Now I have to call the HVAC guys-- 2 months, almost to the day, since the unit went out of warranty on labor. Still under on parts, but I'm always a little afraid they'll find some way to pin the blame on the consumer. I worked in retail. I remember how it goes.

I saw an episode of House Detectives once, and they were having a problem with stinky air whenever they turned on the heat. Turns out that sewage drain came uncoupled and leaked into a pool under the house, and their vent pipe ran close enough to the ground that the insulation soaked up the sewage water. Every time they turned on the heat they were pumping sewage gasses into the house. Pretty disgusting really and the fix wasn't pretty either, but the homeowners did most of the work.
Sounds similar to Karen's story from the previous post...Our HVAC is in the attic, so who knows.
Oh no! Good luck.
